About ECUU
The East Central UniServ Unit, ECUU, is one of 19 regions of the Iowa State Education Association, ISEA. ECUU includes 31 school districts and Grant Wood AEA in a eleven county area in the Cedar Rapids/ Iowa City area. Its boundaries are approximately the same as those of GWAEA or about 4700 square miles. Cedar Rapids, Kirkwood College, College Community and Mount Vernon make up the CedarWood UniServ Unit, CWUU. ECUU and CWUU share office space at 240 Classic Car Court in SouthWest Cedar Rapids.
ECUU's staff, two UniServ Directors and an office secretary, provides service to more than 2450 members. This includes help with the bargaining of 38 Master Contracts.
Other services include Membership recruitment and processing, Grievance processing and assistance with individual members' employment problems. The directors have also been trained to help locals train Mentors and to resolve member to member problems through mediation.
An Executive Board of 8 Officers and 7 Committee Chairs governs ECUU. This board meets 6 times a year. At the April meeting local presidents and local delegates, 1 per 50 members, join the Board to elect officers, approve the next year's budget and conduct other unit business.
- ISEA Retired
- Retirement means leaving your job, not your profession. You can still be active in your professional organizaton and those years you've invested in your educational career and your Association will continue. Keep your Member Benefits, add to those you already have, participate in ISEA and NEA meetings and activities including Boards and commiittees, work on issues especially important to retirees such as Social Security and IPERS. ISEA Retired also has a Delta Dental plan, an AAA travel plan, hearing (aid) plan, and we are currently working on a vision plan all of which are available to retired members.
