<p>The ISEA has awarded two $2,500 scholarships to children of ISEA members who are studying to become teachers. This year's winners are:</p>

<p><strong>Sarah Beaver</strong>, a&#160;senior majoring in&#160;agricultural education at&#160;Iowa State&#160;University in Ames. She is the daughter of&#160;Cheryl Beaver&#160;who is a member of the Clarinda Education Association.<br />

<strong>Kristine Welper</strong>, a&#160;junior majoring in early childhood&#160;education at the Winona State University in Winona, Minnesota. She is the daughter of&#160;Nancy Welper&#160;who is a member of the&#160;North Winneshiek&#160;Education Association.<br />
<br />
The winners will be honored in local ceremonies this spring. In order to be eligible for the ISEA scholarship, applicants must be at least a junior, be enrolled in a teacher preparation program, and be a member of an NEA affiliate student program.</p>

<p>The scholarships are funded by voluntary contributions made by ISEA members. The deadline for applications for next year's scholarships is Jan. 15, 2010.&#160;<a href="index.html">Click here</a>&#160;for details and an application form.</p>

<p><b>David Brus,</b> a junior majoring in technology education at the University of Northern Iowa. He is the son of Ann Brus who is a member of the Denison Education Association.</p>

<p><b>Alissa Coussens,</b> a junior majoring in music education at the University of Iowa. She is the daughter of Sarah Coussens who teaches in Davenport.</p>

<p><b>Brittany Waack,</b> a junior majoring in French with a minor in international studies at Central College in Pella. She is the daughter of Kathleen Waack who is a member of the Cedar Falls Education Association.</p>

<p>The ISEA has awarded four $1,000 scholarships to children of ISEA members who are studying to become teachers. This year's winners are:</p>

<p><b>Seth McGrane,</b> a junior majoring in elementary education at the University of Iowa. He is the son of Thomas and Cynthia McGrane who are members of the Denison Education Association.</p>

<p><b>Allison Thomas,</b> a junior majoring in music education/music therapy at Wartburg College in Waverly. She is the daughter of Beverly Thomas, an ISEA member who teaches in Newton.</p>

<p><b>Lindsay Townsend,</b> a senior at the University of Northern Iowa who is majoring in elementary education/early childhood education. She is the daughter of Brigid Townsend who is a member of the Johnston Education Association.</p>

<p><b>Tyler Vachta,</b> a junior who is majoring in math and math education at Wartburg College. He is the son of Mary Ellen Vachta, an ISEA member who teaches at Howard-Winneshiek.</p>

<p>Applications are now being taken for The Roland and Dorothy Ross Scholarship Award for ISEA members who are secondary guidance counselors. The award, which is in memory of Roland and Dorothy Ross, is administered by Wells Fargo Bank with assistance from the ISEA. This Trust makes funds available for qualified individuals to further their education by their attendance and participation in classes or programs. Members must have at least five years experience as a full-time guidance counselor.</p>
