Teach your child science skills while doing laundry
Doing laundry can be more than just a chore. It can also be a time when you teach your child science skills.
Here are some of the skills you can teach while you are sorting and folding.
Observing
Scientists notice tiny details. Ask your child questions like, "Does this sock feel different from that one? Why could that be?"
Classifying
Scientists put things in groups, based on their characteristics. You can help your child classify as you sort the laundry.
For example, you could sort clothes by color. You could sort them by family member. Or you could challenge your child to come up with a new way to sort the clothes.
Quantifying
Ask questions like these, "Who has the shortest feet in the family? By how much?" "How many T-shirts did you have in this load of wash?"
